![]() Howdy Friends! Spring is in the air! Spring officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere on March 20, 2021. If you live in Texas, the weather we have had signals spring after the bizarre winter weather that visited us last month. We will take every bit of sunshine mixed with some winds, so long as we do not have any snow! Big “Happy Birthday” shoutout to my incredible husband. We celebrated his birthday Covid-19 style with some of his favorite food and outing. This post is a quick update on some of the inquiries that came through for the past two months. So here we go: 1. Covid-19 Healthy Mind Tips: This week marked the one-year anniversary of the pandemic. Friends have lost loved ones due to Covid-19. And the race to vaccinate anyone that needs and wants the Covid-19 vaccine is ongoing. Big thanks to all our medical personnel ensuring everyone that needs the vaccine can get one. Despite the on-going vaccination, many people still need help in coping with Covid-19 and all its related stress. The major mantra for coping with Covid-19 is, “Be Kind to Your Mind.” This kindness to your mind can take the form of taking frequent breaks from Covid related content, from news media and anything that heightens your stress level. By the way, these tips are great for post-Covid-19 to ensure your mental wellness. Take time to exercise, get fresh air, stay connected with family and friends. Most of all, reach out and seek help if you feel overburdened or unsafe in any way. Seeking help is wise. 2. TEKS Adoption: First, thank you to all Texans that participated in the review process of the Health Education and Physical Education curriculum standards last year. Your input during each step was vital to the success of the review process. Many of you have inquired about the status of the review. Great news! The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) approved the health education and physical education TEKS for adoption at the November 2020 meeting. The new curriculum standards in Health and Physical Education (TEKS) will be effective August 1, 2022 and are scheduled to be implemented in our Texas public school classrooms beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. Click on the hyperlink to see the approved revised standards. With many extended hours of public comments, this was a well worth process by the SBOE and TEA and I was honored to serve our state and students alongside my fellow content advisors. 3. Aggie Women Network: Last week I had the distinct honor to serve as a panelist for the Aggie Women Network: First Thursday Speaker Series. I have loved connecting with new friends from that session. Because the session was filled with so many nuggets that are beneficial for any age group in any profession, I am sharing the link to the Zoom live recording for you to watch at your convenience. Click this hyperlink for First Thursday Speaker Series: Networking – Creating Your Beehive. If you know of any young person that could use this networking information, please pass it along. Click on this hyperlink to download the free infographic resource I shared at the event. 4. World Education Summit: Shout out to all of you that have already informed me of your attendance at the premier World Education Summit organized by United Kingdom Osiris Educational. Excited we get to learn together at the summit. I am thrilled to serve educators at this summit sharing key life transforming truths on wellness. With over 200 speakers from around the globe, there is something for everyone, even if you are not an educator. Though the summit is virtual, speakers have different options to connect with you. I am looking forward to connecting with you for some portion of the wellness session. To my Texas friends, the Wellness Session is at 10:00am Central Standard Time. Visit the World Education Summit for registration details. 5. Weekly Bible Study: Covid-19 did not stop our Bible Study Community. We pivoted to a virtual community last March when the pandemic hit and we have been blessed as a community. The blessing of our pivot allowed for participation from different states and out of the country. It has been a great delight serving and connecting with believers from different backgrounds through our virtual Bible Study Community. We just concluded round one of the Spring semester Bible Study and gearing up for round two. I would love to serve you as we study and grow together in God's Word. Space is limited, so go register. Click on this hyperlink for more information on the 6 weeks study from the Book of Joel. That's it for now dear friends! Until the next post, take care of yourself and stay healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). Please let us know of any broken links. Email us at info@oasisfocus.org with details about the link. Thank you. ![]() Howdy Friends! Brace yourself for this long but necessary post to close out the year. My heart desire is to see anyone that wants to, living a joyful thriving life through Jesus Christ. This year revealed how important toilet paper was. Two months into the pandemic, many grocery stores ran out of toilet paper. How could that happen? One thing was certain; no one knew what to expect in a pandemic. The response to the pandemic disrupted toilet paper supply chain across the nation. Dr. Gonzalez from North Carolina State University Department of Forest Biomaterials attributed the toilet paper shortage to panic-buying. The response of panic-buying emphasized how critical the underlining principle of taking inventory was in the manufacturing industry. Too much or too little inventory can affect the overall welfare of a grocery store. To prevent any sort of imbalance, the manufacturing industry (stores) typically adhere to some basic inventory principles. This is applicable to life as well. The ability to take honest inventory affects our overall well-being as humans. As we end 2020 and enter into a new year, it is not unusual to set new goals and prepare for the year ahead. A popular quote by one of the Founding Fathers of the United States-Benjamin Franklin- sums up why preparation is essential. “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” However, this year my approach is different from the usual “set new goals” focus for a new year. This does not mean setting new goals is not important. Far from that, the reason is that the firsthand experiences of walking alongside so many people in the past seven months during this pandemic have shined a light on how important taking inventory is. Helping people through several virtual meetings to “unpack” and “process” the root causes to some debilitating spiritual, psychological and emotional situations that made them devoid of peace, joy, motivation, clarity, and direction during this pandemic, I was the blessed one. The experiences revealed how critical honest inventory is to our mental well-being. So instead of the usual set new goals for the new year, my heart desire for anyone yet to unpack or process trauma is to take some time to slow down and take an “inside inventory”, especially after such a pandemic year as 2020! Why this is necessary is because without taking an inside inventory, we tend to “hoard” our emotions by refusing to let things go. You probably have seen the show on HGTV -Hoarders- and know how debilitating clutter can be to overall health. Hoarding of emotions happens when negativity, loss, resentment, bitterness etc. piles up and henceforth blocks our mental capacity to respond to life in ways that are healing both to us as individuals and to others. Taking inventory allows the cleaning out of all the clutter inside of our spirits, souls, and emotions from trauma- be it mild or severe. If 2020 taught us anything; is that living prepared spiritually, psychologically, and emotionally sustains us. This sustenance in turn impacts our immune system and how it responds to the environment we live in. This year taught us how vital it is to prioritize our health. For the past two months I have been collaborating with a neuroscientist on the impact of trauma on the immune system. The understanding from our discussions have been very helpful as I work on the Companion Manual for Crushed to Restored: Principles of Restoration from the Book of Nehemiah. In the last decade there have been multiple studies that have provided evidence on how the immune system overlaps emotional responses. Some of the precious people I have worked with during this pandemic have given their permission to share their emotional hoarding experiences and how it affected their overall health and mental wellbeing. So, coming early Summer of 2021 by God’s grace will be the Companion Manual to Restoration Principles. The manual will break down the scriptural principles from the book of Nehemiah in an easy format and approach that anyone can use in their restoration journey. Please be on the lookout for it. To all my friends that embarked on their restoration journey this year, big kudos to you! It takes courage to make changes. To those yet to begin, I encourage you to take an inside inventory. You will be better for it. For those that have begun, review your restoration journey regularly and be brutally honest with yourself. Have you made progress towards wholeness? Celebrate! That’s a big deal. Have you confronted hidden traumas from your past that kept you stuck? Celebrate! Not many people can look in the mirror and be honest enough to change. You did! Now celebrate. The New Year 2021 awaits you with open arms! Parents of school age children, please take some time to guide your children in taking inventory of their emotions. Data and reports in the past three months point to an increase in anxiety for students in K-12 grades. There is help available, please reach out. Happy New Year Friends! Until next post, stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2) ![]() Howdy Friends! I have a collection of angels. Some as gifts from friends and some bought at antique stores. Back in 1994 when the Touched by an Angel series premiered on CBS, it quickly became a family favorite to our then homeschooling family. Angels Monica and Della had a way into our hearts with their sweetness, firmness, wisdom, and guidance in each human assignment they had. Such is life with each of us on assignment by God to be an “angel” where He has us. Last post, I promised to share airing information with you. I received the news this week and excited to share that Season 2 of Speak Up is now up on Amazon Prime Video. For my friends that like numbers, you will be glad to know that current data from Digital Commerce and Consumer Intelligence Research Partners states that there are now 126 million Amazon Prime members in the United States. My husband and I enjoyed watching all the episodes in one sitting. This is your special invitation to watch Season 2 Speak Up show. Each message is embedded with an angelic guidance to life. You will be touched by an angel through each speaker. I would love to hear how “The Healing Response” blessed you when you watch. And if I could further serve you, please reach out and let me know. It would be a joy to do so. Special thanks again to the terrific production team at MPN Global Network for having us all share angelic guidance on Season 2 of Speak Up. Until next post friends, stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding"(Proverbs 3:6). Howdy Friends!
I have missed updating you here! It has been an around the clock type of few months. At our September podcast recording, my husband and I were discussing how fast this year has been. We are half way through September and before we know it we are entering a new year! In the midst of this pandemic counting days have never been vital as it is. Each day is God's gift to humanity- to behold Him, His goodness, His mercies, His people and His workings in our midst. This pandemic confirms that life does come with its many challenges that many of us are not fully equipped to navigate successfully. Last month I had the honor along with ten other terrific speakers to be on the upcoming season two of the SpeakUp show that airs on Amazon Prime. The message is a healing balm for where we are right now amidst this pandemic from what God did in my own life years back. For many people, 2020 has been a traumatic year. The way we are responding to this pandemic or other traumatic situations can either propel us to a strong thriving life fueled by the Holy Spirit or keep us stuck in a destructive cyclic mindset. When God created humans, He gave us a beauty as living things to have the ability to self repair. Humans are intricate beings with superhero powers when it comes to the body healing itself. When the body experiences a cut or wound like the skin, the body is able to heal itself through repair and regeneration. Isn't our God Great to have created humans this way? Think for a second, there is a mechanism for the human body to heal itself. How about the human soul, emotion, heart or spirit? Is there a mechanism for these inner parts of humans to heal when wounded or cut? God's Word is full of answers! Find out on my episode of the SpeakUp show on Amazon Prime. Elated for you to hear, believe and obey the healing response and other life transforming messages from other speakers. I have the assurance that once you taste and experience the deep abiding joy that comes from the healing response of the soul, you too will be an ambassador of healing to others through agape love because God always gives a crown of beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61: 3). Check back for airing information. Until next post friends, stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! “A cheerful heart is good medicine but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" (Proverbs 17:22). ![]() Howdy Friends! Here we are; in one of the most challenging times in our world. Covid-19 brought the world to a stop with the closings of churches, businesses, schools, events, and aspects of governments all over the world. With this health crisis we have seen loss of loved ones, businesses, jobs, dreams such as graduations, weddings and many more that will take some time to thoroughly assess. One thing is certain in these uncertain times; there is a loving God who cares dearly and desires relationship with His creation no matter the circumstances. What an appropriate time to look up, set hearts upwards, and gaze towards the Only One that deeply understands when nothing seems to make sense about Covid-19. In the last four weeks our ministry -Oasis Focus Inc., have received double the amount of prayer requests from around the world. My husband, myself and our board members are praying with you and for you that the faithfulness of our Great God will cover you during this Covid-19. Last year, many of you followed my interviews with WMAP Radio; K.C. Armstrong and team. I was honored to have those interviews as part of K.C. Armstrong’s Second in the Simply Amazing Project. A project similar to volumes in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Just in time as we all look forward to life after Covid-19, the Simply Amazing Women is a compilation of stories from twelve other women and me. We take you on our journeys and how the struggles and challenges we each faced, made each of us a better woman. For me, it chronicles the amazing grace of God, without which it would be impossible to be who I am today. All praise and glory goes to the LORD. The official release date is May 1, 2020. However, you don’t have to wait till then. You can pre-order your copy now by clicking the hyperlinks. Additionally, enjoy the following insightful review from Diane Donavan, editor, author, literary agent and reviewer at Midwest Book Review/Bookwatch. "If ever there was a good time to publish an inspirational collection of stories, it's now. Simply Amazing Women is about choosing the kinds of responses during adversity that translate to survival and courage. While these mini-biographies were compiled before Covid-19, they highlight the ongoing need for inspiration now as never before, and are intended, like those in its predecessor Simply Amazing Special Author’s Edition, to provide the encouragement to not just go on with life, but make it the best possible. The examples posed by these women all demonstrate paths to rising above adversity. Readers receive a survey filled with intense battles involving self-healing, transformation, and the kind of self-improvement that leads to helping others both through example and by outward-oriented effort. Take 'A Mother's Love', a hard-hitting interview with mother Marcy Stone about an amazing journey into motherhood against all odds. K.C. Armstrong's interview here is designed to follow the building blocks of how Marcy Stone evolved her life perspective and came to rely on it to face and overcome many obstacles in her life. From how she overcomes impossible predictions to her realizations of what it really means to be a mother, her story is filled with insights readers will find hard-hitting, remarkable, and clear in their progressive learning opportunities. Another thoroughly engrossing piece is 'A Song of Gratitude', an interview with Dr. Feyi Obamehinti, who met her abusive mother for the first time at age 16. Dr. Obamehinti's life experience not only led her to become a prominent Christian figure serving as an example for other women, but helped her build a strong family without many of the challenges she faced as a child: "Sometimes, we have to become what we never had. For me, that meant being a loving, caring and present mother for our daughters." As these remarkable lives unfold through interviews designed to pinpoint the origins of their strengths and perspectives, readers are treated to a moving, inspirational account offering various strategies for overcoming adversity. As a new world replete with fear, death, and division emerges, there is no better time for reading and considering this book's underlying message about not just survival but building and rebuilding a better life from the ashes of disaster. Very highly recommended as a torchlight guiding the way to transformation. Simply Amazing Women | K.C. This is a short post :). I hope your February is cruising along very well. My husband and I just returned from a week long conference in San Antonio, TX. The Riverwalk was the perfect spot to spend our Valentine’s Day. And while in San Antonio, I did something that I could not do before - what you ask? Instead of taking the elevator from the 21st floor at the hotel where we were staying, I decided to take the stairs all the way to the first floor! And then walked 1000 steps to my morning destination. Talk about increase in body heat in a 40 degrees temperature. I share this to say; you build your muscle strength, inner strength and capacity over time. Gradually getting ready for that 26 mile full marathon in 2020 😊. The use of technology for helping people around the world is getting better with each passing day. Twice a week for the past three weeks I have had the distinct honor to work with some amazing women in Kenya, Africa virtually. These brave women are pastors’ wives from seven different tribes who made a decision to begin their restoration journey using a translated version of my book Crushed to Restored: Principles of Restoration From the Book of Nehemiah (in Bantu Swahili). This is why my calendar has been unavailable this month for virtual one on one sessions. Thank you to my English Learning community translation friends for the invitation and undertaking the huge task of making the freedom sessions possible for these precious women in their native language. Keep up the great work of making God's Word practical in indigenous languages of the world. More than anything else, these amazing women have blessed me more than they will ever know. Their courage, bravery in the face of unimaginable anguish have sharpened my fire for freedom. I applaud their transparency and vulnerability to confront the trauma they have buried for so long. The oldest in the group of 32 women is 81 years old. It goes to show that it is always the right time to begin restoration. There is no age limit. I am grateful to God for the power of His Word. It is living. It is life. It is liberating. It is healing. What a privilege to be Christ’s ambassador! Until next time friends, keep following the Master Teacher. Love & Blessings!!! "Christ has set us free to live a free life" (Galatians 5:1). ![]() Howdy Friends! It has been a while since my last update back in May. So much to update you on this post! That's it for now friends! Until next post, enjoy the rest of your summer! Love & Blessings!! ![]() Howdy Friends! Thank you for all the birthday greetings, wishes, prayers and gifts. I am blessed by each of you! My life tank is overflowing with so much love, joy and gratitude. Thank you to my incredible husband and daughters who went all out again to make this year's celebration a memorable one. We found out we have a new taste for painting; which was one of my celebration activities for my birthday. Our paintings now adorn our kitchen for a daily reminder. Then Mother's Day was filled with sweet family moments. Grateful to have three amazing daughters who make this honor of being a mother unforgettable in every way. They tell me how blessed they are that God made me their Momma. It's the other way round; I am the blessed one for sure! Thank you Honey! You are the BEST! I love you! Thank you Daughters! I love each of you and so proud to be your Momma! Summer is around the corner! This means school is almost out for many students. Well done on completing another school year. Congratulations to all graduates! And congratulations in order for all my former students who have sent me wedding invitations. It's a busy summer and I am stoked about each moment ahead. The past six weeks I have been blessed to be part of two colleges special topics class as a visiting lecturer. Guess what the topic was? Trauma! So glad this is now at the fore front of colleges too. My professor friend in California invited me back in late March as a visiting author since her class is using my book (Crushed to Restored) as a class resource. Trauma is no longer a covered up thing that is forbidden. For healing to take place, there must be demonstrated care in a welcoming environment that allows people who have been abused to talk about those hard places in their lives, so they can heal and move forward in their lives. Honored to have shared my life story and guide many students in similar situations. Hope is spreading like a healing balm and it gives me so much joy!! I promised the students I would post our central discussion points on trauma (I have no permission to post our pictures and licensed counselors understand why). I hope and pray these discussion points are helpful to those of you on your restoration journeys as well. I am praying for you passionately; because I understand and know what it is to be where you are. My prayer remains the same: that you will each find hope in Jesus Christ, freedom and healing that will make you look back in deep gratitude for your life and journeys. It is only possible through Jesus Christ, Savior of the world. Trauma Discussion Points: Firstly, to be a giver in every sense is a blessing and this trait must be stewarded well. However what happens when you become more like an ATM machine with no limits. Any relationship will suffer if cultivated and built this way. Secondly, how do you navigate life withdrawals from your life that leave you in the red emotionally and physically? If not appropriately handled, these red withdrawals can lead to trauma. Thirdly, some cultures around the world have social contracts that are developed and must be followed. How do you break free from such co-dependent relationships to live a life of freedom in Christ? This requires the help of both a spiritual leader and professional licensed counselor. Next, how do you break free from triangulation? This is a tactic in abuse situations to deflect from addressing key issues or responsibilities. It is important to recognize what it looks like. Lastly, how do you recognize toxicity? Toxicity has a pattern. Toxic is toxic no matter the enhancements. One of the best Bible based guidelines I shared with the class as a follow up is an article by Focus on the Family. Click on the Focus on the Family hyperlink to read the article. You were created with loving intentions by God in His own likeness. You have divine nature in you! Because of this divine nature, you can overcome and be a victor who honors God even in the most difficult of situations. You are so loved and I believe in you! “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Genesis 1:26-28 Excited about summer: audiobook will be released (just three chapters left to complete the recording), family book will be released, three college appearances and I am looking forward to Summer Community Bible Study on the Book of Malachi. Find more information on the Summer Bible Study by visiting: https://bit.ly/2IRlrBC. That's it for now friends! This is to a terrific summer! Again, if you are yet to get a copy of the book, visit Advantage Books, Amazon or Barnes & Noble. And please, don't forget to write to let me know you started your restoration journey. I would love to keep you in prayer. I believe in you! Love and Blessings!! "Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1 ![]() Howdy Friends! I am continually humbled at all God is doing through the book: Crushed to Restored: Principles of Restoration from the Book of Nehemiah. For everyone that has contacted me sharing their life experiences and restoration journeys; you have become part of my obedience gratitude. God knew each of you would be the recipient of His blessings as you read through the book. Each of you is the reason behind the book. God never wastes our past pains or hurts. Overcoming through Jesus Christ, our tests become our testimonies; our messes become our messages. The God that hung the stars, knows exactly how to put all the broken pieces of our lives back together. So dear friends, be encouraged as you journey towards your restoration. There is so much beauty and power in your healing and wholeness. I believe in you and praying for you as you journey towards restoration. "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." (3 John 1:4) Howdy Friends!
Wow! I am so grateful for your support. Keeping up with the weekly emails of people I have never met and texts from those I know, have been a blessing in so many ways. Many of you share how God is speaking to you and unearthing “stuff” in your lives as you are reading Crushed to Restored: Principles of Restoration from the Book of Nehemiah. The “unearthing” is part of getting to the root causes of whatever your circumstance of crushing maybe in your restoration journey. It is necessary to address these root causes with honesty and transparency with God, yourself and others. Freedom, healing and wholeness awaits you on the other side of what seems right now like “reliving” some of the past hurts and pain. I applaud each of you for your courage to begin your restoration journeys. I am honored to partner and serve you in this capacity. Be assured of my earnest prayer for your restoration. I already see you free, healed and whole because Jesus Christ guarantees your healing and God your Creator specializes in giving beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3). So, my friend, trust the workings of the Holy Spirit as you journey through the book. I received permission from three dear readers who are currently on their restoration journeys to share with you their testimonies of what God is doing in them as they read the book. 1. Dear Dr. Feyi, my dad bought me your book Crushed to Restored because our family lost our mom suddenly last December. It has been a shocking experience that I did not know I was developing anger towards God until I started reading your book. It has been a very difficult time for our family. I am doing a lot of reflecting and praying. Thank you for writing this book. It is taking me deeper in my prayer life. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. Amanda G. (OK) 2.Good afternoon Feyi. I am working on 9. Beware the angel of light from Nehemiah 6 in your study. I have really been hit by your statement of, “the level of your purpose is typically tied to the level of attack you encounter; hence, your level of attack should be a tell-tale sign of your purpose”. Also, that while on our restoration journey, we do not get breaks from the enemy’s attacks because he doesn’t want to give up territory. Wow! So powerful. This is speaking to me so much about why I have been chronically ill for so long and why my son has suffered so much the past few years. Thank you for this study and the truths from it. (Misty H, TX) 3. My Dear Friend, I am so grateful to God for you! God has used you and your husband in so many ways for our family. But. This. New. Book of yours is slicing my soul! Things I have stuffed in me for years, God is unearthing them as I read your book! How did you know to include reflection as people read the book? That my friend is the icing on this cake that sometimes is not tasting so well because I am having to look inside of me and not all the people I thought had did me wrong. Thank you for your obedience, it must have not been easy. Proud to call you friend and blessed that God is using you at a higher level to bless me. (Elenna B, TX) For all my auditory learner friends, you will be excited to know an audiobook version of the book is in the works.I am working with two amazing experts (one an acclaimed producer/engineer in the entertainment industry and the other an award winning author of several Christian books). The audiobook should be out by summer. Stay tuned for release date. Be sure and watch Oasis Connection TV program on the UANetwork this month (April 13 & 27). My incredible husband interviewed me, Dr. Ruth Goodwin of Safe Harbor Counseling Center about trauma from the book and an expert counselor in trauma care Mrs. Simpson of Safe Harbor Counseling. These are broadcasts you do not want to miss as you journey through your restoration. Again, if you are yet to get your copy of the book, go and get a copy from the Publisher-Advantage Books, Amazon or Barnes & Noble. And please, be sure and let me know you started your journey of restoration. I would love to keep you in prayer. I believe in you! Love & Blessings!! “To all who mourn in Israel He will give: beauty for ashes; joy instead of mourning; praise instead of heaviness. For God has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for His own glory.” (Isaiah 61:3, TLB) |
